GyreCraft Programme is GyreCraft’s ongoing curatorial and research programme centred on craft, place and contemporary life. Working from a glocal perspective, it brings together exhibitions, research, moving image, forums, residencies and cross-regional collaborations to explore the evolving relationships between materials, making, people and place, while connecting makers, creative communities and cultural institutions across different geographies.
From Wind Knows, Hand Knows and The Wind from Craft Town to the World Craft Star Atlas Initiative, the Global Craft Innovation Forum and GyreCraft Moving Image, the programme explores how place-based knowledge and practices can move across geographies and between tradition and contemporary life, creating new connections and meanings.

Wind Knows, Hand Knows is GyreCraft’s place-based curatorial and research programme, exploring local knowledge and cultural practices within a global-local context. Bringing together art, craft, design and moving image, the programme traces the relationships between materials, making, people and everyday life, and explores how locally rooted knowledge and practices can circulate, connect and take on new meanings across different places.

The Wind from Craft Town is a long-term initiative working through exhibitions, forums, residencies and brand collaborations, alongside a sustained study of the ecologies of craft cities and craft towns worldwide. The project offers an alternative vantage point: development need not be measured by scale. In an era of glocalisation, small-scale action reveals its own distinct value, sustaining cultural spaces attentive to the fine-grained relationships between people and making — so that tradition is no longer consigned to the past, but participates, in a state of continual change, in present production and future imagination.

Craft in Motion is a moving-image curatorial project initiated by GyreCraft. Using film and moving image as a way into local culture and individual narratives, the project brings together artistic practices, local archives, oral histories and field research, transforming them into small-scale, site-responsive exhibitions that unfold within everyday spaces.
